A huge thank you and well done to the 380 staff from Pernod Ricard Wineries who got out and got their hands dirty on Thursday 1st June at 4 sites across New Zealand for their annual Responsib’All Day. Tools in hand, they rolled up their sleeves and worked all day long to help out at key sites in their community. Responsib’All day is a global Pernod Ricard event where staff stop all activities for 24 hours and turn their efforts to helping their local communities. In New Zealand, Pernod Ricard worked with Conservation Volunteers to improve habitat and ecosystem health at Mt. Vernon in Christchurch, Grovetown Lagoon in Marlborough, and Motuihe Island and the Cascades Kauri Regional Park in Auckland.
Volunteers achieved a huge amount on this day with 1,879 native trees and shrubs planted, 5,000m2 cleared of invasive pest plants, 7,500 plants released and mulched, 1,500m of walking tracks constructed and another 8,000, of walking tracks maintained and repaired. We also worked in nurseries, built a picnic table and three plank bridges as well as building and installing 18 penguin and saddleback nesting boxes. An amazing achievement by a wonderful group of people who never cease to impress us with their hard work and fantastic attitudes.
Pernod Ricard Winemakers and Conservation Volunteers New Zealand (CVNZ) began their partnership in 2015 and has partnered for 2 years on their Responsib’All Day projects. Pernod Ricard Winemakers is an industry advocate for sustainable environmental management and through this collaboration has seen the engagement of their employees in conservation activities at key sites across New Zealand with a focus on healthy waterways and communities.
