Lion at Pt. England Reserve with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand

Thank You Lion For All Your Help At Pt. England Reserve

Last week marked our first volunteer team from Lion who came out in force to help us prepare an area of Pt. England Reserve for an upcoming community planting day. Twelve Lion staff members rolled up their sleeves and trudged through the mud for hours on end to clear the area of invasive pest plants such as stinking iris, arum lily and blackberry that had been choking the waterway and threatening the biodiversity of this stunning reserve. This area is now free of weeds and ready to be re-planted with native trees and shrubs by our community volunteers on Saturday 17th June.

Lion was an absolutely amazing team with great energy and motivation. We were amazed by how much they achieved without even seeming to tire and covered a far greater area than was expected of them. Their attitudes and big personalities made it a fantastic day. Lion and Conservation Volunteers have just entered into a partnership where Lion have announced us to their staff as a charity partner of choice. All Lion staff get paid volunteer days each year to give back to their communities. We hope to see a lot more of the Lion team on our Conservation Projects across New Zealand.

Thank you Lion. We couldn’t have done it without you.
