Kaka - Wellington Threatened Species - Wild Futures

Calling all organisations to take part in New Zealand Conservation Week and World Habitat Day!

Nationwide, we are calling on you and your business to GO WILD for Wild Futures by supporting Conservation Volunteers New Zealand ’s national threatened species program, Wild Futures.

The Wild Futures program contributes to wildlife conservation in a simple yet powerful way. We have chosen to work with a handful of threatened species to which we can provide real help. When volunteers work with our recovery teams and roll up their sleeves to plant a tree, assist in predator control or do a little pick up we know that we are making a real difference to the future of our chosen wildlife.

Join Conservation Volunteers New Zealand in Going Wild for Wild Futures by:

  1. Adopting a Wild Futures Species

Can’t get out this month?  You can still support Wild Futures, by adopting a Wild Future species for your organisation, providing opportunities for your employees to get involved later in the year. Check out the incentives and outcomes for adopting a species!

  1. Going Wild and volunteering

Book in a team now to volunteer and support Wild Futures. Go Wild, get outdoors and connect with your local threatened species through hands on actions during October. We have many projects across the country that you can join. Our select species include the Long-finned eel, kokako, kaka and the little blue penguin

You can join at many locations across New Zealand, including sites along:

  • Tamaki River
  • Oakley Creek
  • Punakaiki
  • Hunua Ranges
  • Waitawa Wetlands
  • Tarakena Bay
  • A Forest at the Heart of Wellington

The cost is $1,200 per team of up to 10 volunteers. We can provide a tailored day for each of the Wild Futures sites.

Check out a selection of our Wild Futures locations across New Zealand and sign up a team to Go Wild!
