CVNZ & Sustainability

Conservation Volunteers New Zealand is committed to operating sustainably in every possible way as we go about the business of supporting and leading conservation projects around Aotearoa New Zealand. We have a CVNZ Sustainability Policy which applies to all aspects of our operation, including sustainable catering practices for volunteer events, volunteer and staff education about protecting our environment, sustainable procurement practices and limiting air and vehicle travel in favour of teleconferencing.

In 2020, we were finalists in the Restoring Nature category for the Sustainable Business Network’s Sustainable Business Awards.

Some of the initiatives we have in place are recycling planting packaging through Plasback and Future Post, using cardboard biodegradable tree protection sleeves, and donating old, used plastic tree protection sleeves to community organisations and schools for reuse, car pooling and upgrading to electric vehicles as we update our vehicle fleet.

As we move forward into our future, we will continue to have a strong focus on being as sustainable as we possibly can and trying to achieving a zero waste, circular economy with our suppliers and partners. We’ll keep you updated on this with blogs and news.
