Cassidy Chaytor

Cassidy grew up in Tauranga and spent a lot of time at the beach and local forests when she was younger. When she left school, Cassidy was drawn to the marine environment and knew she wanted to do more to protect the environment. She studied Ecology & Biodiversity at Toi Ohomai and the University of Waikato.

Once she graduated, Cassidy began working at Waikato Regional Council, in freshwater fisheries. Her team travelled around the region doing electrofishing, netting, eDNA, fish passage assessments and other various ecological freshwater monitoring.  Cassidy then moved to a field technician role, where she undertook riparian assessments on dairy and drystock farms. After that project wrapped up, she stumbled across CVNZ.

Cassidy states, ‘I love being a part of conservation efforts and encouraging environmental protection. I have learnt a lot in my time with CVNZ and I can’t wait to see where it takes me’.
