Teresa’s journey with CVNZ began when she became Coordinator for the Migrant Conservation Programme. Her love affair with New Zealand started a decade ago when she was captivated by its stunning landscapes and unique wildlife. Originally from Hong Kong, Teresa’s path as an ecologist led her from studying freshwater wetland ecology to diving into marine conservation. Drawn back to New Zealand, she pursued a Master’s in Urban Planning to explore the dynamic relationship between urban development and the environment.
In her current role, Teresa unites new migrants from diverse cultural backgrounds, inspiring them to volunteer alongside local conservation leaders. Her passion for nature and her vision of becoming a kaitiaki, or guardian, of New Zealand’s unique environment drives her work, fostering a community dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of Aotearoa.
